The Director-General and Chief Executive of
Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Dr. (Mrs.) Juliet
Chukas-Onaeko, has commended the University of
Ilorin (UNILORIN) for having the best
administration of Student Industrial Work
Experience Scheme (SIWES) among higher
institutions in the state.
The ITF boss, who was represented by the Ilorin
Area Manager of the organisation, Mr. Ajibola
Ladokun, stated this last Tuesday, when she led a
team from the ITF on a courtesy call on the Vice-
Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali.
Noting that students of the University have been
the best behaved in all his experience in ITF, she
said that the organisation is very proud of the
students whom he described as “mature and
orderly”.
The ITF Chief Executive tasked the students to
take the programme more seriously at it would
help to give them practical experience.
The Director-General also commended the
University’s serene environment, noting that the
beautiful landscaping of the campus is second to
none in the country. According to her, “This is a
fantastic place and we have always had good
reception here. You are doing a great work here
and the University is generally great”.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ambali,
admitted that the University has come a long
way. Saying proverbially that when people stop to
grow they die, Prof. Ambali stressed that the
University is still growing because it does not
want to die.
He acknowledged that SIWES is very important to
the University.
